Harry Oscar Triguboff AO
From humble beginnings to multibillionaire, Harry Triguboff is the most celebrated property name in Australia. For over 60 years he has led the design and construction of over 79,000 apartments across the eastern seaboard of Australia, and the nation’s capital, Canberra. In a land where the greatest dream was always to own a freestanding home on a quarter acre block, Harry maintained an unwavering self-belief that he could eventually change the nation’s perspective on housing preferences to apartment living. He succeeded.
Harry was born in Dalian, China on third of the third, 1933. Naturally, three has always been his favourite number. Harry spent his early childhood in Tientsin (now Tianjin) influenced during the war by the black American marines whose culture he loved. In 1948 Harry’s parents, Moshe and Frida, sent him to school in Australia and he attended the Scots College in Sydney’s eastern suburbs where he made lifelong friends, who are still his friends today.
In 1960, Harry and his father decided to sell the carpet business and Harry returned to Australia. He became an Australian citizen in 1961. He dabbled in small investments before building his first block of apartments.
Once bitten by the building bug, Harry never looked back. He is now the ultimate high achiever, in every sense of those words.
A generous philanthropist, providing millions of dollars each year in financial support to many causes, Harry has received two honourary doctorates and numerous other awards in recognition of his efforts.
