Altitude on top at Urban Taskforce awards

27 July 2018

Meriton, Australia’s number one apartment developer, wins Development of the Year at the Urban Taskforce Development Excellence Awards 2018 for its Altitude Parramatta development.

Mr Peter Poulet, presented the award to Meriton last night at the annual awards evening in Sydney.

Meriton founder Harry Triguboff said the award was a highlight of the group’s 45 years of activity in Parramatta.

“We always strive to do better in terms of design.

“We want our buildings to stand out and we want our apartment owners to be proud of them.

“To get recognition from the Urban Taskforce is immensely satisfying.”

Altitude was completed last year on a former David Jones site in Church Street, bought for $36.5 million in 2010.

Altitude’s towers, which are up to 54 levels, are home to more than 300 apartments and 254 hotel suites.

The sellout development has a leisure and aquatic centre for residents, outdoor podium pool, and childcare facilities.

Altitude, boasting a thriving riverfront dining precinct, was opened in March 2017 by Andrew Constance, the Minster for Transport and Industry.

James Sialepis, the Meriton director of sales, said the buyer appetite for Altitude apartments was not surprising given Parramatta’s growing maturity and lifestyle offerings.

“Parramatta has become a very in-demand area, this award gives us confidence that our vision and commitment to developing high quality residences such as Altitude has been recognised. As a testament to our ongoing commitment, earlier this week, Meriton submitted a proposal for another award worthy twin tower development in the booming heart of Parramatta.

Mr Triguboff said Meriton first targeted Parramatta in the 1970s.

“We started with the red-brick unit blocks that can be seen around the area today.

“We went on to build the Waratah Hotel on the Great Western Highway, which we later turned into apartments and sold.

“Many projects have followed and others are in the pipeline.

“Our faith in Parramatta is undiminished.”
