Mascot Central takes out Urban Taskforce Development Excellence Award 2016

DEVELOPER Harry Triguboff believes the success of a vibrant retail area has been a big factor in his Meriton group taking out an Urban Taskforce development excellence award.
Mascot Central, a master-planned community minutes from the Mascot train station, has won the 2016 award for best mixed-use development.
The project, with more than 1200 apartments and serviced suites, includes what Mr Triguboff says is Meriton’s boldest and biggest foray into the retail arena.
The alfresco-style precinct has over 5000sqm of retail space and services not only Mascot Central’s four residential buildings but the Mascot area in general.
It comprises a full-scale Woolworths supermarket and 16 specialty and food retailers, including cafes and restaurants.
Mr Triguboff yesterday said that the four-tower Mascot Central was all about delivering an enjoyable and tranquil lifestyle to its residents.
“It’s evident that our retail area is the icing on the cake, not just for our residents but for the surrounding community.
“It’s got great atmosphere – I get a real buzz walking through it.”
Mr Triguboff said Mascot Central was designed to offer residents on-site options when they had ‘downtime’.
These included, in addition to the retail precinct, an indoor lap pool, gymnasium, spa and sauna, along with a lush landscaped area.
“Meriton is, in effect, providing residents at Mascot Central, and at other projects we have under way or are about to start, with the recreation options you might expect at a top hotel.”
The Urban Taskforce excellence awards are an annual highlight for the development industry.
The taskforce is a non-profit organisation representing developers and equity financiers and provides a forum for dialogue with both the government and community over the urban community.
