Meriton trio into UDIA excellence finals
26 July 2016
THREE projects that developer Meriton says epitomise its efforts to enhance lifestyles in Sydney have been named as finalists in the prestigious 2016 UDIA NSW awards for excellence.
Centrium, Tribeca and Mascot Central are in different suburbs and also are very different in character.
Centrium, which consists of twin towers in Chatswood, is a finalist in the award for excellence in mixed-use developments.
The sales efforts for the three low-rise buildings that make up Tribeca at Waterloo have earned a finals spot in the high-density section.
The four-tower Mascot Central, where the centrepiece is an alfresco-style shopping and dining area, is a finalist in the retail category.
The UDIA NSW, in announcing the 2016 finalists, said the judges were impressed by the ‘amazing quality or work’ in the development industry.
Meriton, in endorsing UDIA’s efforts to encourage developers to set new benchmarks in their industry, has become major sponsor of the awards.
Meriton’s Centrium is in the heart of Chatswood, one of the North Shore’s major commercial, retail and residential suburbs, and has 608 apartments, a retail precinct, and a child-care centre.
The group has retained both towers, with the taller one, at 38 levels, offering apartments for long-term rentals and the other luxury serviced suites.
The 233 Tribeca apartments are inspired by the warehouses of old Waterloo and designed by Tony Caro, who set out to achieve a translation of the traditional saw-toothed warehouse into a contemporary residential building.
The master-planned Mascot Central includes Meriton’s boldest foray into retail development.
Its full-scale Woolworths supermarket and 16 specialty and food retailers service not only the residents and guests in Mascot Central’s four towers, but also the Mascot community.
The PTW Architects-designed project, which provides 1192 apartments and serviced suites, includes a lush landscaped precinct and is minutes from the Mascot train station with a commute only 8 minutes to the CBD.
The Meriton UDIA NSW awards for excellence winners will be announced at a gala dinner in Sydney on August 5.
