Meriton’s Escada gets green light

30 August 2018

The Meriton group has won development approval for Mascot’s latest building Escada, the second project in a move into an ‘unsatisfied’ market for boutique luxury.

The Harry Triguboff-headed Meriton successfully tested the market last year with a sellout 46-apartment building, VIDA, at Mascot.

The 12-level Escada, at 131 O’Riordan St, will have 111 apartments, with uninterrupted views to the north, south and east from level eight.

It is being built on a 2362sqm site bought for $25 million in February and is due for completion by late 2019.

Escada’s one, two and three-bedroom apartments will have floor areas of from 50sqm to more than 100sqm, balconies, terraces or courtyards, and some will have street entrances.

Seven penthouses will have private rooftop terraces and, apart from offering all-encompassing views of the Sydney city skyline and Botany Bay, will include fully equipped outdoor kitchens featuring bar fridge and barbecue areas.

James Sialepis, the director of sales, says Meriton has believed for some time that many buyers seeking apartments with panache and in boutique buildings are being offered little in the way of choice.

“There was immense effort put into our first boutique development VIDA, which was a huge sell-out success and well received by all buyer types. We wanted to create a sophisticated lifestyle offering within a smaller boutique building, and our buyers applauded our efforts. Escada is another exciting opportunity, whereby Meriton can satisfy this growing niche market.

“At Escada, we are raising the boutique luxury bar even higher.

“We’ve collaborated with industry-acclaimed architects DKO to create a distinctive design that includes a contemporary ‘ crown’ – a sawtooth roofline.”

Mr Sialepis says Escada, in which prices start at $640,000, will be an oasis for its residents.

“Escada will be a stylish retreat, only 5km from the CBD but away from the hustle and bustle of city life, flanked between two parks, Lionel Bowen Park and the future Mascot Linear Park.

“It will offer discreet luxury in the ‘go’ suburb that is Mascot.

“The suburb’s become a lifestyle option for many people.

“It’s flourishing as more retail, restaurants, cafes and childcare centres have been added.

“The icing on the cake for many people is that it’s within easy reach of both the CBD and the airport, being just 400m from Mascot train station, and is only 450 metres from the Mascot Central retail precinct.”
