Opening Of Brisbane’s Tallest Tower: The Height Of Success

OPENING OF BRISBANE’S TALLEST TOWER THE HEIGHT OF SUCCESS

Tuesday 20 SEPTEMBER 2011: It was a launch to commemorate architectural history. Queensland Premier, Anna Bligh has officially opened the tallest residential tower in Brisbane.

Standing by her side for the unveiling of Soleil was developer and Meriton boss,
Harry Triguboff.

“This is a very proud moment for us”, Mr Triguboff said.

“Tonight we make history.”

“It is a great privilege to have our first residential tower in Brisbane opened by
Queensland Premier, the Honourable Anna Bligh”, he said.

Appropriate to the evening, the launch of Soleil was themed around the Cirque du Soleil. Exciting, magical, sleek, glittering and perfect in precision, it was a powerful representation of the hero of the evening.

Soleil is Meriton’s launch into the Brisbane property market, Mr Triguboff said.

We are old friends on the Gold Coast but here in Brisbane we have some high-rise catching up to do.

We have great confidence in the Brisbane market which is not only marked by the opening of our first tower but the continued development with our next residential tower, Infinity, he said.

Meriton has been building premium apartments across Sydney, Gold Coast and now Brisbane for close to 50 years and like Soleil, they are responsible for many of the recognised landmark residential towers in Australia, including the iconic World Tower.

And to soar to great heights requires extensive excavation. At Soleil, Meriton made history before one brick was even laid. The 10-level carpark required one of the biggest excavations in Brisbane’s history. Soleil will soar 234m high, making Brisbane’s tallest tower now the same height as Meriton’s World Tower – the tallest residential building in Sydney.

Now the majestic tower of 74 levels with 464 apartments is appropriate for the fastest growing city in Australia. Designed by awarding winning architects DBI, the apartments have stunning river and CBD views. With easy access to all the enviable city attractions, Soleil offers an unmatched quality lifestyle surrounded by the very best resort style facilities. Due for completion in early 2012.

With over 100,000 people moving into the city of Brisbane every year, an apartment building of this size and scale has not come soon enough.

Brisbane is underappreciated Mr Triguboff said. You offer a wonderful lifestyle in Brisbane and it is affordable living in the heart of the city.

I wanted to bring you an icon in high-rise living that best portrayed our confidence in your city and its future.

Something truly magnificent and outstanding to commemorate our foray into your beautiful city,” he said.

And it seems everyone is being touched by the presence of Soleil. Since Meriton
purchased the site back in 2007, there has been excitement by Brisbane residents as they have watched it rise to a position of distinction on the city skyline.
Even those who live on the outskirts of Brisbane say their property has increased in value because they now have city skyline views.

“The Soleil apartments have been in very high demand, with 220 apartments already sold, and only 40% of the total building still remaining for sale,” said Meriton’s Soleil
sales representative Eunice Arden-Wood.

Soleil has had far-reaching benefits for a great number of people Mr Triguboff said.

In coming years, I think we should expect to see greater immigration to Brisbane from other states.

Your city council is very progressive and encourages development. They understand that there is going to be a need to feed future demand.

We have been made to feel very welcome. Some say it was a brave move but it was most definitely the right move.

The launch of Soleil is one of our proudest and most significant moments he said.
