Sellout at Riverview

BUYERS chasing the lifestyle on offer at the inner west Sydney suburb of Rhodes have spurred a sellout of a revitalised decade-old riverside Meriton apartment building and are targeting a nearby development given similar upgrade treatment.

The sellout involves 59 apartments in the 12-level Riverview building, which was completed in 2009 at the tip of the Rhodes peninsula and retained by Meriton.

The developer also is chalking up strong sales of new-look apartments which it retained at Aqua, a decade-old enclave of six-level buildings overlooking the Parramatta River.

Meriton founder Harry Triguboff yesterday said that it made sense to update and upgrade the Riverview and Aqua apartments because they were well designed and offered copious internal space and large balconies.

“Both buildings always were popular with tenants who wanted a more tranquil lifestyle away from the fast pace in the CBD.

“The sales we’ve achieved show that Rhodes is still a very attractive area and we’ve drawn plenty of owner-occupiers as buyers – they like bigger apartments.

“We’re getting a solid reward for modernising the apartments with upgrades such as stainless-steel European appliances and smoked mirror splashbacks, plush carpets, and contemporary bathroom designs.”

The majority of apartments in the sellout Riverview, which is at 2 Mill Street, look north across the Parramatta River to Sydney Olympic Park and the Sydney CBD skyline.

The apartments achieved between $438,000 and $1.69 million.

Aqua, at 50 Shoreline Drive is one of the last waterfront developments left to sell and has been inundated with local buyers. 75% of the 68 apartments are sold leaving a limited selection of one, two and three-bedroom layouts available, most with large studies or media rooms.

The apartments, which range from 95 to 247sqm, have enclosed entertaining areas, wrap-around balconies or garden courtyards, and come in one and two-level configurations.

They are priced from $495,000 to $1.635 million.
